I went with the Advanced Smart. There weren't many reviews when I purchased this. I would not recommend the Advanced Smart model.
The problem with the Sunny Health water rowers in general is the metrics. They basically measure strokes per minute only. The display shows more than that (rate per 500m, watts), but it doesn't reflect intensity at all. My best metrics come from a warmup drill where it's arms only, but high Strokes Per Minute.
I think this limitation is a tradeoff of being a water rower. The big name water rower has delayed metrics. This one has SPM only based metrics. I'm not an expert, but I believe you'll need to choose one of these tradeoffs when selecting a water rower. If you want accurate metrics, you can't have a water rower.
Regarding the Advanced Smart model: the extra money spent for the Advanced Smart unit allows you to get these terrible metrics to your phone. It's not worth it. The tablet holder is a simple piece of plastic that screws onto the back. A goose-neck phone/tablet holder would work just as well.
I would recommend this rower if you don't care at all about metrics. If you aren't looking to improve, you aren't looking to challenge yourself. If you want to get on the row machine, and just row for your exercise. Much like taking a walk. Then I'd recommend the non-smart unit. It's a good price, the elevated seat is nice, and the sound of the water is better than air units.
However, my unit developed the squeak that other reviews talk about. It came within 2 weeks of owning it. It comes from the flywheel, so it's not something I can fix.
